Carbarn Cyprus supplies Japanese used cars to buyers in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos, and starts with the rule that decides everything else here: Cyprus accepts cars and vans up to five years old, counted from the date the car was first registered. Carbarn checks every car against its manufacture date, which is always the same as or earlier than the first registration date and so gives the stricter answer. That means you know a car can be registered in Cyprus before you buy it, not after it arrives.
Cars come from the Japanese auction network and are picked to match what Cypriot drivers buy — the Toyota Yaris and Vitz for city driving, the Nissan Note and Mazda Demio at the compact end, and the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V where a family needs more room. Japanese cars are right-hand drive as standard, which is what Cyprus needs, so nothing has to be changed between the auction and the road.
Cars travel from Japan to Limassol or Larnaca by RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) vessel on a monthly K-Line sailing, and the crossing takes 30 to 45 days. When the car arrives it is cleared through a customs agent, put through a roadworthiness test, and registered with the Department of Road Transport. Duty and tax are quoted separately from the car price: customs duty at 10% of the CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) value, VAT at 19% of the CIF value plus duty, and a fixed fee of €210. Every listing carries photographs, the Carbarn inspection comments, the full inspection report and the auction grade.
